Isaiah chapter 2 verse 4:
“And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more”
Some years ago, parishioners at St. Philips Church in Columbus, Ohio, handed in all their handguns at church. This included their children’s toy guns in response to their priest’s request following the attempted shooting of President Ford. The Rev Richard Engle even handed in his own .22 calibre pistol.
All these weapons were melted down and forged into crosses which were sent to Ohio’s Congressional Delegates as a protest against the proliferation of handguns. It is not recorded what the response was to this act.
