Anders Breivik

In case you’ve missed it, he is the Norwegian who describes himself as a hero for killing 77 innocent people.

Naturally, before he could be tried for those crimes, the Norwegian legal system had to be seen to certify that he is not in fact mad, but a rational human being who knew what he was doing. So they turned a whole bunch of trick cyclist on him, and the consensus was that, legally, he is sane.

That’s debatable in my view: there’s nothing sane about killing any innocent people, let alone 77, so should they ask me, which is unlikely, I’d sum up all my reserves of tact and diplomacy and tell them the guy is stark raving bonkers!

We have to stop describing people like him as terrorists, and simply call him what he is: a criminal. What he did is not as he claims [wrongly] a political act. He may well be anti-Islamic, but first and foremost he is a common, garden cold-blooded murderer and should be locked up forever, with no contact with the outside world other than being forced to watch endless re-runs of "Dancing on" compered by Brucie.

The purpose of this trial is to determine if this man is criminally insane or just plain evil. His guilt is not in question as he has admitted all charges laid against him and, at the culmination of the trial, he will be incarcerated in either a prison or in a suitable mental institution.
No other country should be involved in this trial and should not interfere with the Norwegian Judicial system.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions but, at the end of the day, the Norwegians will make the final decision and nobody else’s input will matter.
Why do we think that they don’t know what they are doing?
One thing is for certain, he will never be allowed back into the community.

No it isn’t Steve! He’s already been assessed on his sanity and determined he isn’t insane and therefore can stand trial.

I think you will find, Colin, that he has been assessed by psychiatrists as being mentally fit to stand trial but it will be up to the courts to decide if he is mentally deranged or not there by allowing the court to decide in what institution he will be incarcerated. His defence have had their hands tied by him as he wants his message ( however ridiculous) to be seen by the general public. He has admitted all the offences but still pleads Not Guilty.
I’m sure all of us think he is a raving lunatic and should be put down as you would a rabid dog.
Having pleaded Not Guilty the courts have no choice but to continue with the trial.

what this guy has done is is a terrible act of mass murder and in my eyes he should face the consequences via execution , but what he said about the Gradual Swamping of Europe by the power of Islam carries some Credence , maybe members dont agree with me , but i wold like to be a "Fly on the Wall" in 50years time !
