Hong Kong Fauna

I lived in Hong Kong between 1966 and 1985 and recently spoke to a woman whose father saw the spoor of a tiger in the New Territories in the mid 1950s. If any former army personnel or residents also knew of tigers in Hong Kong or any other interesting fauna, particularly anything strange or anomalous, please can they let me know? No matter how unusual the fauna!
Thanks,Richard
