Haven’t got time to go into this at the moment Ann, but recently I was checking on some regts. of that era and a found a very good and detailed source of info re British regt’s, which served in Canada and in particular of sldiers who were discharged there and settled there.
I think it was official Canadian government archives, but they had a big project to record all that sort of info as a matter of national heritage.
What they’ve got is a series of index ref numbers to many records of various regts. and their individual members.
The indexes lead to rolls of microfiche films stored in the archives, they printed some examples of the records held on microfiche, very detailed service histories and military docs for the soldiers concerned.
I’ll look it up and try and point you at it, can’t post links on here, but I’ll figure out a suitable google search thatyou can use to find the material.
Meanwhile I suggest that you do some googling for the name of the regt. find some regt, history, where they were serving at various times for example, there’s a lot of that stuff out there.
Regards.
