The Word became flesh” (John chapter 1:14
There comes a time for all of us, to ‘own’ God’s word as our own. If we just pay lip service to some ideas on Sundays then contradict them during the other days of the week, then eventually we will just give up. Why? Because what we are doing is ignoring our values as Well as fragmenting our lives. When we do this for long enough, we reach a point where we have no respect for ourselves.
When Satan attacked what he thought was a weak spot in Jesus, the Lord answered him four times with the words, “it is written”, (Luke 4:4ff) The outcome of those confrontations with the Son of God? Verse 13 tells Us that “the devil left him”.
Perhaps we should all have those precious words on the tip of our tongues— “it is written”! Ready for when we are under pressure. For example, if we are provoked, instead of uttering those choice expressions that are unfit to be Printed, we should perhaps say, “ I will be quick to listen, slow to speak and even slower to become angry, for the anger of man does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. (James 1:19/20). Besides that, God gave us two ears and only one mouth, so maybe we should listen twice as much as we speak. So let us all get into the “word” and get the word into us.
