Welcome lads..

In my morning paper it is reported that a lot of people are vacating Europe in favour of New Zealand in order to escape the economic downturn.

Leading the charge is a fifty per cent increase from Ireland, including one Eoin Darby from Dublin who said he was laid off twice in the last five months [as a quantity surveyor].

His experience in Wellington is "unbelievable" he said. "There are so many Irish people here, and have arrived since I moved"

Last year saw some 22,000 visitors from the UK, the largest number for a while...all having a look I suppose.

Good on them!

Back  in the 1958ish  Sheila and I did talk of going to NZ.But when mother-in-law foundout she took to her bed for two weeks. So that was the end of that.So over the next few years I started to overcome  my mother in laws  bond to Sheila .It was tough I can tell you .In the end we came to Canada as far west  as we could get .Never looked back .
