This sounds absolutely outrageous Ian. Don’t know that it can achieve much on FR though. What about a complaint to the local MP? Won’t do much for the family in question, but it might help others in the future.
Syd.

The lady in question did not want to make any official complaint Syd for the sake of her husband who is still serving. We all know what that would do for his career!

Our unit[2Queens] had an FLO in place when we were on Op.Banner tours.
Fortunately he was only used once,and the soldier was single.This didnt stop George G. helping his family.
This was 1972.
What has just occurred with lady is despicable.
If I was related to this lady,I would have somebodys cluster in my hand!

Your value

Whilst politicians defraud and steal from the public and deny effective equipment to the fighting services so that they can have more money to spend of the ’expenses’ things will never change.
The experiences of the lady defy rational description and the really sad thing? The very service her husband was so proud to have been a part of were totally uninterested.
Terry Carey mentioned Kipling; he, Kipling, summed it up well even as far back as the 1890s:

You talk o’ better food for us, an’ schools, an’ fires, an’ all:
We’ll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don’t mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it’s "Saviour of ’is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
An’ Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!

The more things change, the more they remain the same!
