A modern parable to show the value of a soul.
A man had to travel to a distant land and so left his servant to look after his young child. In doing this, he made sure there were enough clothes left to keep the child clothed until he returned.
Some weeks later, the man returned from his journey and on meeting his servant, he was surprised when the servant said, "here sir, are all the baby clothes you left with me. See how clean and freshly ironed they all are? But as for your child, I am afraid I don’t know where it is!"
This is how it will be for some people in the last day. They will say, "look Lord, here is my body. I have really looked after it, not abused it with the wrong foods, smoking or excess alcohol. I have exercised it regularly and as you can see, it is strong and fit. Look too, if you will Lord at my bank balance. I have, through diligence and hard work, made millions of pounds. As for my soul, well Lord, I seem to have lost that somewhere.........
"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"
