was listening to a piece on local news about head mistress sending  kids home from school ie inapropreiate  dress, parents had been warned so to my mind no excuses, grandkids asked what was it like in my day, did,nt believe me when i stated only clothes many of us had were the clothes we stood up in ie no choice, would have loved to  have owned a school blazer and all the trimmings that went with it, but sadly  never managed that luxery, most family,s shared hand me downs which some harsh teacher was quick to note and comment upon,  grandkids think your talking war era, don,t seem to realise that the 50s were still hard times, maybe that head should make them aware how lucky they are.

when i have a bit of free time i,ve got to admit to browsing the web, especially checking out old favourites ie singers or actors from my era, just been reading up on jon pertwee, he,d served as an officer in royal navy and was transferred of the hood shortly before her tragic end, i enjoyed jon ,s humour in his radio series, then in film and television, i did see the humour in one of his final requests ie a toy wurzel gummidge attached to his coffin, a very funny man. another old favourite john le mesurier left a piece to be placed in the times after he,d passed away, it read he,d conked out and misses family and friends, it is stated his final words on death bed were, it,s been rather lovely.
