I agree. During the First World War British service people received a ‘wound stripe’ as a visible sign they had been wounded in action. Precedence has therefore already been set and this would just be a case of resurrecting an old ‘award’. I’m not sure if it should remain as a stripe (in uniform) or go as far as a medal (like the Purple Heart) but in principle I think an ‘award’ is more than justifiable.
