Frozen Pensioners
Unfreezing the indexing of pensioners who live abroad and have served in H M Forces - Started by Brian Corrigan

Under regulation 3 of the Social Security Benefits Up-rating Regulations British pensioners who retire to any one of over 120 countries, mainly in the Commonwealth, have their rightful state pension frozen. Meanwhile, those who retire to other countries have their pension uprated annually, just as though they never left the UK. This discriminatory policy currently impacts on the lives of over half a million British pensioners and curtails the freedom of choice of all British pensioners in retirement. We call for this Government to heed the plea of the International Consortium of British Pensioners to repeal this Regulation. If it receives at least 100,000 signatures, this petition will be eligible for debate in the House of Commons! Your participation is essential if we are to achieve that goal, so we ask that you please sign this important petition.

i certainly back this proposal, I doubt anything will force the Government to do anything, they are all talk and no action, besides their Colledge friends who become silks have to be looked after, and payed literally millions to look after terrorist interests, so they have their loyaties to them not us .

Not only do I not get a cost of living rise on my pension but, also, i get screwed because I was discharged from HM Forces prior to 1975. Nice to know that both Westminster and Whitehall care, not!!

It is redonkulous that those entitled to state pensions do not get the annual increases that they should be entitled to ,I have researched without success the culprit responsible ,surely there is a comparison with mis-sold insurance and we all know where that has gone ! sign me up

I totally agree on the unfairness of this regulation, living in Australia, one of the countries effected by this, and with the rising value of the $A the UK pensions value hardly pays for a tank full of petrol. So go ahead sign me up.

my army pension, would not allow to go outfor drink, with my army friends. although back in the 60s with weekly pay 0f 21 pounds like, that is , 12 ell some one today pence to a shilling, and then 20 of them made a pound, then 21 one of them, was my wage per week. before tax. You cannot dare tell anyone that, thats your pension. declare what you recieve in your tax return, and the vultures want there chunk of the cake.

Count me in. Now I,me receiving the state pension my navy pension has been reduced due to tax. Believe it or not I get a tiny civil service pension of £69 a month and the buggers even take 20% of that in tax.

It was ever thus. As long as politicians don’t suffer personally thay don’t give a bugger for anyone else.

This Jubilee year, we should remember it was also in the 1950’s that the pensions of WWII veterans were first frozen!!

Getting older in Australia and getting poorer due to not getting the natural increases, yet ’oppos’ in near-by countries get the increases. Where is the equality for us ex-Service men and women? My wife also served in the WRENS.
